The last trip of “Exploring Slovenian Nature” that I want to write about in these post series, is a trip to Svinjak. This is the mountain that rises above city Bovec and river Soča. In summer 2016 I really wanted to visit mountain Svinjak, because it is “famous” in that region. The ascent is very steep in the last part of trail.
Hiking different mountains is my passion, so it comes along with exploring Slovenian nature.
That day was one of my favourites. There was sunshine and the view of surrounding mountains was just amazing! A really great mountain to hike. Here are some pictures from the hike.
Moreover, the first two parts of the trail are through the forest. But the last part offers all the great views, steep trail, excitement and very narrow path. From the top you can see the Lepena valley, Bovec valley, peaks of Rombon, Čukla, Bavški Grintovec, and many more.
After the hike, there is river Soča if you want to swim to cool your body down. There are many great places for sunbathing and swimming along the river. Soča river is also called the “Emerald River” because of its typical green color.
Make sure you take sufficient amount of water and food, because the trail is more then three hours long to the top. But it is completely worth it!
